Eva originally comes from Germany. Her parents are from Hungary and perhaps the adventurous spirit runs a little in the family. Already at the age of sixteen, she knew she wanted to become a physiotherapist.

Together with Erik Jan, she collected and submitted all the required documents for the Swiss Red Cross. In addition, PhysioMatch helped her with all the practical matters that had to be arranged before she could actually move to Switzerland. In November, she had her first online conversations with employers and in December she travelled to Switzerland for her first in-person job interviews. Eventually, she started working for her current employer in February 2026.

Working in an international team

Eva really enjoys the practice where she currently works. She works in an international team with colleagues from different countries. For example, she works together with a Greek colleague, a German, a Spaniard and of course Swiss colleagues as well. It was exactly this international atmosphere that made her feel at home very quickly.

She also quickly found social connections outside of work. She regularly meets up privately with two colleagues to do fun activities together during the weekends.

Living in a shared apartment turned out to be the best decision

At first, Eva still had doubts about her living situation, but looking back, choosing a shared apartment was one of the best decisions she could have made. This allowed her to immediately meet three lovely young women around her own age. One of them is even a physiotherapist as well.

Together they do many fun activities. They go out, cook together, jog and even bake bread. Eva loves being active and spending a lot of time outdoors.

Life in Aarau

Eva lives in Aarau, a cosy smaller city in the canton of Aargau. The river Aare flows through the city, where you can enjoy swimming during the summer.

Although she is not really an enthusiastic hiker herself, the surroundings offer beautiful opportunities for hiking. She personally prefers jogging. She has already joined the local Runclub twice in a large group of up to fifty people, which once again proved to be a great way to quickly meet new people.

Recently, Eva also started bouldering, something she enjoys a lot. In addition, she would like to buy a bicycle soon because cycling in Switzerland is also beautiful. Together with her roommates, she also decided to try a dance event at the Aeschbachhalle. There are many different dance styles available there, but Eva is especially looking forward to a bachata evening.

In addition, Aarau is very centrally located. By train, you can reach Zurich in about 25 minutes and cities like Lucerne and Basel are also reachable within an hour.

Dining out in Aarau

According to Eva, Aarau also has plenty to offer when it comes to food. She highly recommends restaurant Tuchlaube for delicious cocktails and great food. Craving pizza? Then Ninni is definitely worth visiting according to her.

How did Eva experience the support from PhysioMatch?

Eva looks back very positively on her journey towards Switzerland. Especially because she already had early contact with PhysioMatch, it gave her a lot of peace of mind around graduation. She already knew early on which steps were necessary and what needed to be arranged.

That is why she would definitely recommend other physiotherapists to contact PhysioMatch at an early stage. Especially if you still need to learn German, it gives you extra time to improve your language level.

She is also very positive about the support from Erik Jan. According to her, he was easy to reach and whenever he did not immediately have an answer, he still helped her further by explaining where she could find the right information.

However, she still sometimes experiences the SRK process as frustrating. She knew the process would take a long time, but in her case things are especially delayed. She is still waiting for the completion of certain parts of the recognition process. Unfortunately, that is something PhysioMatch itself has no influence over.

Missing family and friends

Of course Eva sometimes misses her family and friends from back home. At the same time, she was already used to this from her student years in Hungary. Thanks to video calling, the contact fortunately remains good, even though it is of course not entirely the same as seeing each other in person.

Still, she points out that it is important to think carefully about emigrating if you are very attached to having family and friends nearby.

A tip for future candidates

Finally, Eva had one small tip for PhysioMatch. She felt that the system with all the tasks and steps could sometimes be a bit clearer. Fortunately, PhysioMatch has already significantly improved this with the development of My PhysioMatch, where candidates can easily follow their complete process and progress.
