Tips & Tricks just started in Switzerland
You have found a super nice job in Switzerland, which is of course great, but at the same time there are many things new. That can again be fantastic, but of course it can also be overwhelming. Below we have put together some tips and tricks so that you will quickly feel at home in Switzerland and comfortable in your new workplace.
Work
- Ask for good work instructions
How does the day flow in the organization? How much time do you have per patient? To what extent do you have administrative tasks and how do you best handle them?
- Getting to know colleagues (bring something to eat)
It is of course nice to get off to a nice start with your new colleagues and build new social contacts. Dare to make contact and bring something tasty as an icebreaker.
- Vision and goals
Also consider the following: what are the general guidelines of the practice regarding treating patients, what are the core values of the organization?
- Development opportunities or points (specify yourself and ask for feedback)
What are the points or areas that you would like to work on or develop yourself and how would you like to achieve that and what do you think you need for this? What ideas does your employer have about this?
- Evaluation interviews
Inquire whether evaluation interviews will take place. If not, suggest that you hold regular evaluation interviews. This way you know exactly where you stand.
Social/personal
Below are several ideas to ensure that you also feel good about yourself socially.
- Participate in staff outings or organize them yourself
Find out whether there are staff outings or organize them yourself, this is of course a fun way to make new contacts.
- Participate in walking/cycling tours
- WhatsApp group
We have a WhatsApp group for different regions. Activities are shared here and new members are regularly added who have embarked on a Swiss adventure. Do you want to join a group? Please indicate this to your contact person.
- Sports clubs
A fun way to make new contacts and friends is to join a sports club and meet like-minded people!
Have fun with your wonderful adventure in Switzerland! We are happy to have helped you find your job. But our contact (hopefully) doesn’t end here! We would like to stay in touch and hear how you are doing. Don’t hesitate to send cool photos!
